Build your own thermometer with ATmega8

Student and embedded software enthusiast Haris Andrianakis has designed and created a small digital thermometer based around the Atmel ATmega8 microcontroller. However unlike most simple projects he has moves past the prototyping stage and completed the project by making a custom PCB and a neat finished product. It also has the option of bluetooth communication to send the temperature data back to a PC for further analysis, for example:

Although this project may seem simple, the documentation is excellent and it's a fine example of the design process. To follow through and download the design files, visit the project page here. And for more news, updates and items of interest.please follow us on twitter, Facebook and Google+.

If you are working on your own temperature-sensing devices, we have a range of temperature sensors available - such as the Analog Devices TMP36 which outputs a voltage relative to the temperature, a variety of Maxim DS18B20 digital 1-wire sensors, and a waterproof version on a 1.8 meter sealed wire. See these and much more in our catalogue today.
