Ostensibly this extension cord was originally designed to allow PlayStation game players to be able to sit across the room from their game system, but what we are using it for is to connect to PS controllers and accessories without soldering directly to cables or cutting the connectors off. Since the connector is proprietary, it isn't like you can get a socket or plug from your local electronics shop.
So, if you want to interface with either Sony hardware controllers or consoles, this cable will do the job nicely! Simply cut it in half and then connect to the wires inside. We have an example of doing just that to talk to a funky retro spining controller on the Adafruit Learning System.
