Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3
The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 is Raspberry Pi's is the latest version of the Raspberry Pi compute module which is specifically designed for makers who want to develop and build their own PCBs. It has most of the power of a Raspberry Pi 3 model B without some of the bells and whistles. This gives it a much smaller footprint (68mm x 30mm), allowing you to build off of your Pi without having to carry around your credit card sized computer.
The compute module now uses the BCM2837 chip with of 1GB RAM (double the ram of the previous version) and the same 4GB of eMMC flash storage. The processor runs at 1.2GHz. The board fits into a DDR2 SODIMM connect - which is used for your laptop's memory. This doesn't mean you can stick the compute module into your laptop but it does mean setting up the compute within a custom system should be relatively easy.
Just like the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 can run Windows 10 IoT Core.
The Compute Module 3 contains the following components contained within a 200 pin SODIMM design:
- Broadcom BCM2837 processor
- 1Gbyte LPDDR2 RAM
- 4Gbytes eMMC Flash
- 35u hard gold plated IO Pins
