This is the WeMos D1 R2 WiFi ESP8266 Development Board.
While it looks like an Arduino Uno R3 at first glance, this is NOT an Arduino Uno board!
Since it has the layout of an Uno R3, several shields, sensors and output devices manufactured for the Arduino platform will work on the WeMos D1 R2 too - with the advantage of built-in Wi-Fi!
Are you excited yet? Because we are! Build your next Internet of Things device with this affordable platform.
Based on the ESP-8266 chip, this Wi-Fi capable device also has a larger flash memory compared to the Uno R3. It includes 11 digital I/O pins and 1 analog input pin. To connect it to other devices, you'll need to use a Micro-B type USB cable!
Technical details:
- The D1 R2 is a mini wifi board based on ESP-8266EX.
- 11 digital input/output pins, all pins have interrupt/pwm/I2C/one-wire supported(except D0)
- 1 analog input(3.3V max input)
- A Micro USB connection
- A power jack, 9-24V power input.
- Compatible with Arduino
- Compatible with Nodemcu
How to program it:
- Connect the D1 R2 via micro USB to the computer.
- Also you can programming it using OTA.
Note: OTA (Over the Air) update is the process of uploading firmware to an ESP module using a Wi-Fi connection rather than a serial port. Such functionality becomes extremely useful in case of limited or no physical access to the module. OTA may be done using the Arduino IDE or via Web Browser.
Also Note:
All Input/Output pins works with an operating voltage of 3.3V!
